Her War

The 2016 exhibition at the Wollondilly Heritage Centre and Museum was “HER WAR”.
This was produced in conjunction with the research by Betty Villy for her book “Red Poppies and the White Waratah; Heroines from Wollondilly in the Great War”.
It was an exhibition about the women behind the patriotic push to support the British Empire in World War I. Objects used are re-examined for their power to persuade.
Family letters and postcards often reveal the confusions and contradictions in the lives of families in small towns and villages in Wollondilly during and after this war.

On 13 March 2016, Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO opened the Exhibition and launched Betty Villy’s book.
