The Yerranderie/Burragorang Scrolls are a unique record of the history of Burragorang Valley and the silver town of Yerranderie in the Blue Mountains.
They were created over a period of 9 years by historian Ron Mills to record primary sources from newspapers, books, diaries, letters, electoral rolls etc , which he researched and transcribed by hand onto draftsman’s tracing paper.
Each scroll measures approximately 1 metre wide by 4 metres long. They are fragile and kept in a special cabinet at the Heritage Centre.
To address their conservation and access, in 2011 The Oaks Historical Society received a National Library of Australia Grant to digitise all the 168 scrolls and the 18,000 card index, which can be viewed at the Heritage Centre on specially installed large screen monitors.
